Chapter 803: December 15th: Undead Blitz vs Undead Defense

A blitzkrieg.

A rapid-attack tactic described as "striking the enemy's weak point with firepower before they can respond," which has succeeded only a handful of times in actual human history.

The tactic taken by the Streamer AllianceLive Line is simple and clear: forcefully break through the all-green army led by the Raid Monster "Tormenting Great Green Edge" approaching their main camp, Thirthed, and march straight ahead. Originally, Thirthed and the royal capital Nineshill were well-equipped with defense facilities to protect the cities from the threat of surrounding monsters. Furthermore, while the direct confrontations in this war are limited to PioneersPlayers, the same limitation does not apply to dealing with Raid Monsters.

"Go, go, gooooo! Aim for the enemy camp, Thirdrema! We're taking the advantage right at the start with an opening rush!!"

"""""Oooohh!!!"""""

Leading over a hundred players like the Pied Piper of Hamelin, Payabusa, the practical coordinator of the 'Streamer Frontline' and the half of the PayaGaru Channel who was fully enjoying the highly conspicuous position of the opening vanguard, pumped up his excitement, mowing down the green-dyed kin entities that appeared to be magic classes, which players had already begun calling 'green zombies' due to their characteristically sluggish movements, with his blade as he pushed forward, ever forward.

"Since they're disposable equipment anyway, let's go with a zombie attack on our end too! Running zombies are strong! That's Hollywood common sense, right!!"

A blitzkrieg.

Its greatest strength lies in breakthrough power achieved through the concentrated focus of firepower. The weapons, magic, or bare-handed violence wielded by over a hundred elite players mow down the green zombie army, which possesses no significant durability, in an almost comical fashion, parting and piercing the green forces like an arrowhead.

In this event, a certain restriction has been imposed on TeleportationWarp between cities. At the moment the war phase began, the "history" of every player having visited each town was temporarily deleted. Movement via teleportation magic only becomes possible again after visiting the towns anew.

The very first thing both factions did was to have their players, including those who had learned teleportation magic, re-record the information of each town in their "history."

"For now, everyone save at the front line or the town right before it, and then we're charging Thirdrema! Is everyone read... Oh, you're already charging, so I guess you are! Then all that's left is resolve! Are you prepared!?"

"""""Oooooooohhhhh!!!!"""""

Payabusa, a figure of some renown in his position as a video streamer, is right in front of them, inspiring them. In an extraordinary situation hard to experience in daily life, the excitement of the New King's players rises. And the excitement of having broken through the green zombie army—albeit with some sacrifices—hypes them up even further.

A simple method to inspire people is to give them a sense of accomplishment and present the next goal. Aiming for the objective of a preemptive strike on Thirdrema, the players advance.

◇◇

"Oh, how foolish! A blitzkrieg where the enemy knows you're coming beforehand is synonymous with a suicidal last stand!"

Payabusa's advance. Learning of this report through real-world leaks, Pencilgon laughs at their actions—which prioritized streamer-like enjoyment and visual appeal—as foolish, yet inwardly, she makes a bitter face.

(Man, you played that well, Payabusa... Inflicting a certain degree of damage on the Raid Monster, touring the towns, and even landing a jab on Thirdrema... As a quick-attack strategy rather than a blitzkrieg, even if you lose here, the merits are massive.)

Pencilgon doesn't think her opponent is truly aiming solely for stream aesthetics. If he were considering "visual appeal" as a streamer to begin with, having the whole thing settled in a day or two would actually be a problem.

(Thirdrema is our main camp; including our preparations, we can easily hold out for three or four days. Meaning, no matter what happens, it's going to turn into a stalemate...)

A stream consisting of nothing but a constant siege battle is boring; the viewers watching the stream content understand that as well.

If so, there would likely be few complaints about Payabusa engaging in actions other than attacking at different towns, and as long as a streamer is doing something right in front of them, there will always be players who follow. Just by the streamer moving, a certain number of personnel will move with them; in other words, as a mobile strike force, they are peerlessly excellent.

(Since they have dedicated teleportation personnel anyway, streamers can practically gather people anywhere, and getting players to agree by just asking for a little cooperation is like millet sticking to wet hands.)

And there are multiple such streamers. Considering that mobile strike forces equal to the number of stream channels will appear in various locations, this can be considered quite a formidable enemy for Thirdrema, which cannot clearly coordinate the player base as a whole. And above all, despite appearing to be under the same conditions, there is a certain difference between the New King faction and the Former King faction.

"The Raid Monster on our side is a stationary artillery type, huh."

The Tormenting Great Green Edge is an army-type Raid Monster that continuously advances. The trade-off for never being able to let one's guard down is the advantage of being able to actively employ NPCs on the final defense line.

In contrast, the Smoldering Great Crimson Wings, which unleashed a flashy bombardment on Thirdrema, is a stationary artillery-type Raid Monster that doesn't move from the peak of the extinct volcano. Because it fires extreme firepower over elapsed time, there is some time to relax after a bombardment, but......... it has the flaw that it's difficult to allocate NPCs to defense.

(It probably won't rapid-fire instant-death super-firepower like that... but if it fires that at us, we have no means of defense. We have no choice but to divert our forces...)

To speak honestly, Thirdrema's NPC military strength is slightly inferior compared to the New King's knight orders. The biggest reason is that they have fewer Named NPCs compared to the New King's side. Even if a decent force were sent, they would only get in the way of players trying to conquer the Smoldering Great Crimson Wings, and against the attacks of the Smoldering Great Crimson Wings, almost all NPCs are useless. After all, a city-class defensive barrier—incomparable to defensive magic exercised by individuals—is treated as having less defensive power than toilet paper.

(Maybe I should have sent 0Rei-chan to deal with the Raid Monster too... Hmm, but then again...)

Psyger-0 has an irreplaceable role, and above all, even with prior preparation, a hundred-man scale player force is not a military strength that can simply be ignored.

"Taking down the boss character starting from its surrounding mobs is textbook play, after all."

With the invasion of the Raid Monsters, the initial strategies became useless, and even if they somehow repaired them, the threat would echo long into the future. That is a problem common to both factions. If so, the sub-order they must accomplish in order to achieve the main order of winning the war is:

"How quickly we can deal with the Raid Monsters...!"

Author's Afterword

The Streamer Frontline, capable of guiding an unspecified large number of people toward specific tasks vs the RPA, possessing a decent number of personnel who will absolutely follow instructions after establishing prior preparations.

This kind of composition.

Pencilgon's side also has "trump cards" to gain an advantage, but the problem is that those trump cards are currently exterminating dragons on the New Continent.
