Chapter 764: Swallows Nest Is a White Workplace

Author's Preface

Consecutive updates. I was actually planning on three in a row, but I struggled more than I thought, so it's a tearful two-chapter consecutive update.

I'm sorry...... I'm truly sorry......

"How about we, including myself and all the employees, work like our lives depend on it for these next two days to create about a week-long consecutive holiday?"

"Swallows Nest" is an AR-related venture company that has rapidly distinguished itself in recent years, with its entry into the ranks of publicly traded companies now considered a matter of time.

The second-generation president, Tsubame Kazaya, who inherited the business and ideology from the founder, Tsubame Kabura—who saw a business opportunity in the augmented reality of AR just before the golden age of VR arrived...... If the founder was strong-armed, the second-generation president was truly deserving of the word shrewd, and this was his proposal at the end of the year.

".........Um, President?"

"Look, we are definitely growing rapidly, but our scale is still relatively modest, right? We just finished a major contract, so how about we work like our lives depend on it right here and take a long vacation at the end of the year? That's what I'm proposing......"

"I think it's a great idea, President! While we're at it, let's have another company trip for the New Year! Vegas again next time!!"

"Tama-san, could you stay quiet for a bit?"

There was no employee at Swallows Nest who doubted Kazaya's capabilities.

While greedily and steadily expanding their scale, they never engaged in reckless expansion.

A policy of properly recognizing the value of each individual employee's technical skills and utilizing them well over the long term, rather than working them to the bone.

And above all, his exceptional negotiation skills that successfully closed a deal with that Utopia Corp.

He was known as someone who had shown outstanding talent since his student days, but he was also someone the veteran employees who had been at Swallows Nest since the first president's era could place the same level of trust in as they did his predecessor.

That was the man named Tsubame Kazaya......... however, he occasionally made strange proposals. This time as well, his sudden declaration of a long-term vacation fell into that "strange" category, and the employees in executive positions couldn't hide their bewilderment.

"President...... this isn't just because you have some plans of your own at the end of the year, right?"

"Hahaha, of course not."

"But President, yesterday, didn't you look at an email and then stare at the calendar with a massive grin on your face?"

"Tama-san, how about Macau for the next company trip?"

"There is not a single flaw in the President's choices! I'll go buy Riot Blood for every employee! Can I expense it!?"

While watching the female employee—who had a reputation(?) within the company of being "undeniably competent, but if she ever got married her savings would mysteriously vanish"—run off with the word "Casino" gleaming in her eyes, Kazaya spoke up once more.

"Well, to be blunt...... you see, it's an event rush in ShanFro, or rather......"

"Hearing just that makes you sound like a terrible president overworking his employees for his own convenience......"

That being said, it was true that Swallows Nest had become busy due to safely completing major projects like being entrusted with the AR technology at JGE and the announcement of Scrap Gunman...... but it was also true that having completed those two gave them a bit of leeway in their workload.

Yes, for example...... if all the employees worked through two all-nighters, they could probably finish all the remaining work for the year.

"But Second Gen, from the way you're talking, you're planning on having normal New Year's holidays too, right?"

"Ugh......"

"Or rather, instead of coming to work for two or three days at the end of the year, you're not planning to say 'Let's just take everything off from around the 20th all the way through the first three days of the New Year!', are you?"

"Hehehe...... maybe it's because Saejima-san has been working here since my father's generation, but you can read my thoughts like an open book......"

"Well, of course; the way you get incredibly sloppy when it comes to rather important things is exactly like your predecessor."

When developing Scrap Gunman, Kazaya had taken the extremely peaceful exile measure of gifting his parents a round-the-world trip because their meddling would be a hassle, but he thought anew that it definitely wasn't a mistake.

If his father were here right now, it would have been difficult to force through a long-term vacation with one excuse or another like this. Since they were apparently somewhere in America right now, he still had a grace period; they wouldn't be returning before the end of the year, at the very least.

"Besides, look...... I'm sure everyone has plenty of things they want to do in their private lives at the end of the year, right?"

"Well, sure, that's true, but......"

"Honestly, I'm grateful for the thought, but......"

If they could rest, of course they wanted to rest. At the very least, the employees belonging to Swallows Nest, which prided itself on being a white company, were able to accept their work as a means to an end. But at the same time, they also had the pride of knowing that they were the ones supporting Swallows Nest.

For those at the executive level, their concern over whether it was okay to shut down the company's functions for nearly half a month preceded the immediate allure of a vacation.

"Currently, we only have one ongoing project, and we can push any new contracts to next year. In other words, if we finish it in about two days, we can get our vacation."

Naturally, they couldn't just ignore newly incoming requests, but even factoring that in, it wasn't impossible to achieve. And likely, almost all of the employees would agree to this.

"Well...... if you're asking whether we can or can't, we probably can, but......"

"Isn't it a bit bad to completely shut down even the contact window with our current scale?"

"We just need to leave a message directing them to email."

What to do about that? We'll do this. But there's also that? We can leave that for next year.

As if he had prepared the answers from the very beginning, Kazaya smoothly and fully utilized his eloquence to realize the "End-of-Year Long-Term Vacation." Whether the employees saw his tongue split into two or not was up for debate.

The deciding factor was the bloodshot eyes of the employee who returned carrying four boxes of energy drinks bought on company expenses. Thus, Swallows Nest began a Full-Speed Dash to DeathDeath March aimed at an end-of-year long-term vacation that, if anyone else heard about it, would make them doubt their sanity while simultaneously forcing them to cast gazes of envy......

......

............

..................

"Hey......... Vival. I've finished clearing everything on my end............... sorry, let me sleep until tonight. Once night falls, whether it's the Kingdom or dinosaurs or whatever, I'll grind until I'm satisfied, so, yeah......"

<<......Is there noise on the line? Your voice is insanely raspy, man.>>

"Haha, ha...... it's my natural voice, man...... right now, at least."
