Setting Entry 7: Class-II Classified Forbidden Subject: 「Humanity」
Demi-Human Races
The humans of the New Continent each evolved into a different form in order to adapt to the harsh environment.
This is because the new humanity in [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION], [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] is centered primarily on 「environmental adaptation」.
Conversely, because the new humanity in [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION], [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] is aimed at 「environmental conquest」, they possess rapid improvement in physical capabilities and [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION].
However, the new humanity of [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] can, by using a facility of the Divine Age civilization commonly known as [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION], [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION], albeit only once. Doing so requires [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION]. Incidentally, [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION], namely players, gain roughly half the physical characteristics of the [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] race. (For example, it only goes as far as animal ears and an animal tail.)
Dragonewts
A race that could be described as humanoid dragons. They look down on the Lizardmen and have a hostile relationship with them, but in truth they are not merely close relatives like Beastmen and Birdians, they are exactly the same species. Because they are in [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION], [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] is mixed into them, causing wings and horns to grow. The elders have actually realized this truth, but at the level of their descendants, [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION]; envying the Lizardmen, who are freer than they themselves are, they have not revealed the truth.
As shown in the legend of 「Amur and Sidian」, they have a best-buds kind of relationship with the Dwarves, and even after the Dwarves were expelled by [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION], their friendship did not end, with quiet exchanges continuing to this day so as not to be noticed by [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION].
Names must not use [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] (examples:Areida, Rekusei).
Lizardmen
A race that could be described as humanoid lizards. They are looked down upon by the Dragonewts and have a hostile relationship with them, but in truth they are not merely close relatives like Beastmen and Birdians, they are exactly the same species. Because [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] is not mixed into them, the [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] phenomenon simply does not occur. Together with the Dragonewt race, they are 「a race possessing [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION]」, but no one knows that fact.
Names follow the pattern 「(a-row)ー○○」 (examples:Aarau, Uudeo).
Giants
A race boasting enormous physiques. They naturally live by the creed, 「Being big is good, being huge is strong, let's throw a little speed away!」 Their thinking is not dull, but because they cannot move their enormous bodies quickly, their movements are not particularly fast. They are completely hostile to [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION], and are a [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] race that wages fierce battles day and night against [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION]. Apparently, among the traditions passed down by the Giants is something called 「the promise with [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION]」……?
Names follow 「weapon name + name」 (examples:Ganzard of the Halberd, Sylphan of the Steel Fist).
Elves
A slender race with long ears. They are the weakest race on the New Continent, wanderers who live in trees but periodically move from one home to another. Dreaming of a land where they can finally settle, they are eaten by [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION], and even so they keep their lineage alive. Lacking enough strength to defend themselves against monsters, their basic lifestyle is to hide and run. Before they can even say "Kuh, kill me!" they're already getting munched, the living Lunch Packs of the New Continent.
The rarely born Dark Elves have high physical strength, while the exceedingly rare High Elves excel at magic. Apparently, they get swallowed up by the food chain all the same. In the first place, once you're using flimsy bows and arrows as your main weapon against [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION], of all things……
There are no particular restrictions on names.
Beastmen
A race that could be described as humanoid beasts. They are closely related to Birdians but are a separate species, and because they are viviparous and are basically born in sets of twins or larger multiple births, childbirth is even more dangerous than it is for ordinary humanity. Even if their motif is carnivorous or herbivorous, that does not mean they cannot eat vegetables or meat respectively, it is more like an extreme preference.
Parents with carnivorous and herbivorous motifs produce Beastmen with omnivorous animal motifs. Some Beastmen apparently worship a certain monster, but……?
Names are restricted to characters from the same kana row (examples:Aio, Seshisu, Raruri).
Birdian
A race that could be described as humanoid birds. Though their evolutionary lineage resembles that of the Beastmen, they are a separate species, and although they are viviparous, their newborns are born wearing something armor-like called an 「Eggshell Garment」. Their appearance is something like wings and arms blended half-and-half, and although they possess the ability to fly, some individuals cannot fly…… such as those with chicken motifs. Their hands are buried among their feathers, so things get awful when they hold pizza or the like.
Names derive from the color of their feathers (examples:Scarlet for red feathers, Cyan for blue-green feathers).
Merman
A race that could be described as humanoid fish, possessing the ability to breathe underwater. One important point is that 「Mermaids」 are monsters rather than humans, and are therefore distinct from Mermen. Despite being 「fish」-men, there are perfectly ordinary Mermen modeled after whales, octopuses, and the like. Also, because their clothing is basically something like a diver suit, things get rather risqué in various ways.
Even aside from the fact that, for a certain reason, they have established their living territory on the seabed, they enjoy the most peaceful lives of all the races. With things like strongest thunder orcas, aircraft-carrier anglerfish, fortress hermit crabs, and the like making the competition for survival brutal overall, [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] dropped out relatively early.
Names use characters from the same vowel column, while individuals who have [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] receive the prefix 「Ru・」 (examples:Araba, Borodo).
Bugman
A race that could be described as humanoid insects. They rank number one in likelihood of being mistaken for monsters, but by classification they are humanity. Their appearance is absolutely unbearable to people who cannot stand it, and absolutely irresistible to people who love it. They are absolutely that sort of race, but they are properly viviparous, and they do not do things like cannibalize one another.
As a race, they are characterized by specializing extremely heavily in some particular talent. Beetle-type Bugmen are natural-born tanks, while bee-type Bugmen are natural-born light fighters. For game-design reasons, there are no G-type Bugmen[*1]; what doesn't exist, doesn't exist.
The more times the same character repeats consecutively in their name, the stronger they are (examples:Gagadodo, Shurararara).
Dwarves
A short, stocky race. They occupy the lower ranks of the New Continent's hierarchy and are oppressed by [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] for the reason that 「they look bad」. However, compared with the Elves, who are not infrequently killed when the trees they live in are snapped apart wholesale, the Dwarves dig holes underground to live in and are therefore comparatively numerous.
Their defining feature is that everything beyond the wrist has transformed into metal, and as a race they excel at 「forging metal」, making them seem almost like a race born for blacksmithing. Many seek the excellent weapons made by Dwarves regardless of race, and they are probably the race with the greatest amount of interaction with other races.
One who possesses golden hands becomes king, and the King of the Dwarves inherits the name 「Midas」.
Every name must contain at least one dakuten-marked sound.
[NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION]
Strictly speaking, this is not a specific race, but a collective term for 「humanity」 of a particular [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION]. With the exception of Dragonewts and Lizardmen, humanity that has excessively [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION] undergoes bodily transformation and acquires properties resembling what is commonly called [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION].
Basically, the moment they become [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION], they are treated almost entirely as monsters, although in some places there are also those who form settlements and live quietly in hiding. [NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION].
Because this is a collection of multiple races, refer to the naming restrictions of each respective race.

[NO VIEWING AUTHORIZATION]
They are those of the past who yet exist in the present, those who know no joy in living yet have a reason to live. They are always with a melody echoing from the dark depths.
Author's Afterword
I want to put some real effort into the main story, so my style is to scatter information over here first and buy myself some time.
