Chapter 788: December 15th: I'll Introduce My Crazy Party Members!
◆
That dragon's entire body is covered in blades. It's not just a matter of its scales being sharp; it seems to be a terrifying entity, as if someone forged the shape of a dragon entirely out of bladed weapons.
Suddenly fired up by the highly mysterious content called "Dragon," we headed toward the Minotaur Queen immediately after the summit ended. Survival was mocking Sasami-chan with bizarre cries and poses reminiscent of a mysterious bird...... Honestly, you're not an elementary schooler, so show a little more decency.
Ah! Basashi-kun! Way-yo, what'cha gonna do, put your hands up.
"Alright, pulling ourselves together."
"You really thought you could just 'pull yourself together' after relentlessly provoking people like that."
"You can't split your save data in real life, but you should definitely split your mental save data."
".........?"
PT Overwerke didn't understand at all, judging by his clear eyes, but I hope the day comes when you do...... It means that when a single save data corrupts, it's irretrievable.
Anyway, after extracting information about that Armed Dragon from the Holstein Minotaur, we set out from Catzeria rallying under the banner of 'Aim for Dragon Slaying'. Having a fast-travel user on hand is incredibly convenient; being able to rush back to Catzeria if we forget something is a huge plus.
"The plateau region to the northwest, huh."
"How should I put this, it feels too surreal so it hasn't really hit me, but aren't we currently the ones making the most progress in exploring the New Continent among all players?"
I wonder about that. There might unexpectedly be players who are further ahead than us, they just aren't widely broadcasting it. After all, the New Continent is certainly an uncharted demonic frontier, but at the same time, it is vast. Not all monsters constantly target players with bare killing intent, and even if a monster does attack, sometimes offering another monster with more more eating value as a scapegoat will unexpectedly get you off the hook. In other words, if you fully commit to running away, slipping through the sea of trees or the sea of sand isn't actually that difficult.
Well, occasionally you run into guys where you have to wonder, "Were you really designed as a native monster? Weren't you specifically tuned to guarantee player deaths?"......... Like the Scorching Chameleon that spawns in the volcanic wasteland. I'd argue that forcing players into a quick-draw duel against a scorching tongue that kills on contact is not very human-friendly......
"It's a good thing ShanFro is a game. Isn't this supposed to be on the scale of the North American continent? Normally, traveling on foot would be sheer madness."
"Why can't humanity dash through the air in five steps?"
"Sunraku-kuuuun...... your definition of humanity is broken, you know......?"
I, who have stepped beyond the bounds of humanity.........
Generally, trash mobs don't approach us, and even the powerful monsters that occasionally show up.........
"Nnngh!!!"
Bogyoo!! A monkey-like monster was sent flying along with a sound that a biological body should absolutely not make. And Ur Idim-shi, who knows with what level of force he delivered that straight punch, had smoke from frictional heat wafting from his fist.........
"......Hey Survival, your position as the power attacker is being completely devoured, you know."
"......No, this is straight-up a difference in species. It's way past the level of skin color or whatever."
In this Blade Dragon Subjugation Party, there are about two NPCs mixed in. One is Saina, but since Deep Slaughter and Survival start getting freaky if I leave her out, she's on standby inside Inventoria.
And the other is the self-proclaimed Orc...... I mean, King Hound, Ur Idim-shi. A troubled man on the hunt for marriage (apparently he is male in terms of sex), his very appearance screamed "Combat Race"......... but after actually watching him fight a few times, he's so strong it's almost laughable. It's like he's constantly in a state where a human is activating skills; his normal attacks output firepower equivalent to a player's skill-based attacks.
However, having this strongest Ourc-san in the party brought about a problem.
".........Yeah, the experience points coming to the player side are significantly low, as expected."
"He's probably taking almost all of it. Even if we pull an all-nighter, the efficiency is terrible......"
When fighting with Ur Idim-shi in the party, it seems he takes almost all of the experience points. Furthermore, despite being a six-person party including him, the amount of dropped items is strangely low...... According to Overwerke, who is well-versed in 15-person party activities, "It's roughly the same drop amount as when two 15-person parties team up to defeat a monster."
In short, if the goal is just to win, there's no problem, but in terms of item farming or leveling, he is completely an obstructive factor. The lack of item drops is probably because the monsters subjected to Ur Idim-shi's fierce assaults are pulverized to a level that can't be summed up with mild expressions like "part destruction"......... but what in the world is happening to the experience points he's taking?
"......Honestly, what should we do? At this rate, we're at the level where we'd be better off without him if we want Dragon materials."
"He's an exceptional talent who might have soloed the dragon if we hadn't shown up. Conversely, it means the opponent is someone you have to throw this level of combat power at, right?"
If it's a case of, "I don't think five humans will be enough, so I'll have the main force, Ur Idim, accompany you as a guardian," that's still fine, even if it's irritating.
The problem is the pattern of, "Even that Ur Idim is anxious about doing it solo, so adding five humans is exactly what we wanted." This game sets event flags during conversations in an incredibly natural flow, so if you don't listen carefully, a slight discrepancy could lead to a fatal rift.
"Still, what exactly is a Dragon? When it comes to dragons, this game strays far from the orthodox path, right?"
"Siegwurm."
"That's an artificial lifeform, isn't it."
"Heretical, ain't it......"
Even though he's doing the orthodox final boss routine, being arbitrarily treated as heretical has Siegwurm weeping from beyond the grave, you know. But a dragon, a dragon, huh.........
With every step we take, we draw closer to the plateau...... to that dragon. What exactly awaits us there is something we won't know until we see it with our own eyes.
As we walk, the words of the Blacksmiths come to mind───
Author's Afterword
Announcement
On the coming March 17th, thankfully, Volume 3 of the comic adaptation of Shangri-La Frontier ~Crappy Game Hunter Challenges God-Tier Game~ will be released!
The cover features ShanFro's leading hardcore gamer, Psyger-0!! There seem to be rumors going around that this guy might be the heroine? ......But there's no way, right? There's absolutely no way this guy in full armor with zero skin exposure, who missed the cover of Volume 2, is the heroine! Ahahahaha!!!!
Whatcha laughin' at—, no matter how you look at it she's a heroine, and this armor is skin in a broad sense, so she's the incarnation of sex appeal with full-body skin exposure!! She got robbed of the Volume 2 cover by Pencilgon, but that's just her modesty.
For the special edition, there's also a newly written short story where Katarina blew past the deadline like Silence Suzuka, so if you're interested in thinking, "So this is the one submitted like a Yakuza!" please do pick it up. Katarina's guilt gauge will increase.
