Chapter 112: Legacy Made for the Black Rabbit

As far as I've researched, the Area Boss of the Ruins of Past Glory is the "Overdress Golem."

It's not a so-called Divine Age creation, but a naturally occurring golem. Its appearance, clad in rotting Divine Age debris like scales, supposedly looks like it's dressed up.

Then this guy in front of me is not the Overdress Golem. It's the Rare Enemy "Omega Cell Unit Golem SS (Security Slaughter)," which I heard wanders the ruins annihilating intruders when I was gathering information. That is this golem's name.

"I don't have the leeway to deal with a Rare Enemy. I don't, but..."

For running through to Fifticia, I've roughly researched all the boss information. Regarding the Overdress Golem, if things go well, there's a possibility of defeating it in about a minute. And the procedure for conquering the Overdress Golem is set.

In that case, how well can the current Me (Sunraku) fight............ As a Touchstone (Sandbag) for that, isn't this Omega Cell Unit Golem... too long, Omega Box, just right?

It popped into my head as an opinion, but my body is honest, hehehe... Jokes aside, my body is already moving.

"I have to talk about how it feels to use for about an hour, so I have to test run it..."

Stowing Togetsu into my inventory, I quickly allocate my stats. The stat requirements for That Thing are... Seriously, 300 Vitality (VIT)!? No wait, wait, since it can be raised with equipment, it's not actually impossible... The vitality added by equipping the War Horn Helm [Quad] is... Allllllriiiiiight, 500! Thank you, Quad Beetle! No, seriously thank you!

Then, satisfying the minimum requirements of "STR 100" and "TEC 70" with the 150 points, raising each stat to a nice round number, and dumping all remaining points into Luck... conditions met.

Divine Age technology revived in the modern era by the Ancient Craftsman (Bilac). Named Legacy Weapons as heritage from the distant ancient past. Made from the materials of the Beloved (Crappy) Crystal Scorpions and Golden Scorpion, and rare ores like twinkling stars... even with the light blocked by the shadow of the Omega Box and the giant skeleton, it emits a glaring obsidian shine.

"Re-Legacy Weapon: Bilac... Its name is [Brilliant Scorpion Gauntlets (Gilta Brille)]! Bilac, this is top-tier work..."

What comes to mind is just before I headed to re-challenge Crystal Nest Cliff. When Bilac offered to make a Legacy Weapon using Crystal Scorpion materials and asked what I wanted, my answer was:

---If you're making one, I ask for fighting gauntlets, not dual blades.

"High spirits! Nice, nice, I'm getting super fired up!!"

Gagin! I clash the Gauntlets covering both my arms up to the elbows, modeled after the heads of a Crystal Scorpion and the Golden Scorpion respectively. Their size... just one fist part is almost the same size as a human head. Combined with the sci-fi appearance, they look like mecha arms, quietly resonating with a driving sound impossible for mere steel as they prepare to grasp victory in their first battle.

At a glance, they look like mere jet-black gauntlets, but the crystal shine visible through the gaps in the obsidian armor harbors a golden glow on the right and a pale silver glow on the left.

"I thought punching with bare hands was a waste for a while now."

Skill Infight, and Hand of Fortune... I was always using these two skills bare-handed.

If there was meaning in "being bare-handed" like OiKatzo, it couldn't be helped, but there is no such restriction for a Mercenary. That means I was essentially unleashing martial arts attacks with minimum power all this time. That's why I wanted Bilac to make fighting equipment, but there's another reason.

I have played numerous Trash Games until now. And since each required different strategies, I have handled various weapons. Guns, swords, spears, staffs... and naturally, fists.

I'm confident I can master almost any weapon with about thirty minutes of practice, but even I have "specialty weapons." For example, the martial arts I used mainly in a certain non-human fighting game.

"It pains me greatly to bring elements of a Trash Game into a God Game but... let me say this, Box Bastard."

Thrusting my left fist at the Omega Box, which also entered a combat stance, I declare with a fearless smile under the four-horned helm.

"Here lies the essence of Iai-Fist Style. I'll knock you out in one round."

Those words weren't a signal, but we both started moving almost simultaneously.

Like sliding a stack of paper one by one, or holding a hand of cards in a fan shape, the box parts corresponding to arms slide into thin plates, and the whip-like arms made of lined-up plates are swung back. I thought I'd seen it somewhere; does it resemble a snake-belly sword (whip sword)?

Trying to cut me, the array of plates is swung down like a blade. But I'm not senile enough to get caught by such a straightforward trajectory, lukewarm speed, and overly thin hitbox. If you want to hit me, expand the hitbox by another two meters and come back when it's under 12 frames.

Stepping sideways while maintaining a boxing stance guarding my face, the moment the Omega Box's "Arm" attack impacts the ground, I close the distance instantly.

"Now, firepower verification."

Infight, adding correction to super-close range attacks. And Hand of Fortune, calculating damage based on the Luck stat. I activate a series of skills that are a "Best Friends Forever" combo comparable to the Nitrogain + Climax Boost combo among the skills I possess.

Stepping forward with my left leg, leaning back, winding up my fist from the approach run. A giant body of about three meters that makes me want to say "You could be a boss character on your own"... aiming for the base of the four arthropod legs.

Putting my entire weight on my left leg, stomping the ground, swinging my right arm. Even if it's a Rare Enemy in the latter half of this continent, I'm Level 99. Even deducting being solo, slamming high firepower into the leg joint—a part prone to durability loss—won't leave it unscathed with a nonchalant face.

A box doll of the past that fears no "Curse" because it has no life, no soul. Even if the opponent is stronger than itself, the mission the golem must perform does not change. Elimination of intruders. That is the sole reason for the existence of the Omega Box... Omega Cell Unit Golem SS (Security Slaughter).

But you know, robots can't survive unless they have at least minimal emotions to make the character stand out.

By the way, if a robot character sacrifices itself until half-destroyed or completely destroyed to protect the main characters, and says an emotional line while looking at a flower on the verge of shutting down, it's guaranteed to rank high in popularity polls. In short, what I want to say is that you, appearing merely as a Rare Enemy, don't even have a chance.

The right fist modeled after the Golden Scorpion lands a clean hit on the knee-equivalent part of one of the four arthropod legs. Naturally, I don't make the mistake of missing a critical; the sensation transmitted to my right arm through the gauntlet is a satisfying one.

The cracked knee joint means this single blow exceeded its durability and dealt heavy damage. The Omega Box moves to exterminate the enemy at its feet, but I am Three Moves faster.

"Break!"

Forcibly suppressing the recoil of swinging my right arm, I put power into my left arm. I can't expect the firepower of Hand of Fortune, but my current STR can exert firepower comparable to Luck. I slam an uppercut scooped from directly below into the cracked knee joint.

Begyo-ri, the crack widens further, and strength leaves the tense arthropod leg. It didn't shatter and tear off because it doesn't carry Destruction Attribute? But the important thing is the fact that I destroyed one leg. Confirmed two criticals with skills... would have been better if it was two criticals without skills, but I can't be greedy.

"This is already a detour; I'll finish this quickly!"

Firing another blow at the remaining arthropod legs, I challenge the strong enemy alone............

Took twenty minutes. That was super sloppy!!

Author's Afterword
This is content asked in the comments section, but I thought I should explain it, so I'll explain here.

Regarding the "Curse" inflicted by Unique Monsters, there are monsters that are exceptions and do not receive its effect.

First, Area Bosses. Even if it's the Gluttonous Giant Serpent, they will never flee.

And among non-boss monsters, there are also monsters that do not flee. Those are "Monsters like Golems that do not possess life in the first place and are not biological." Note that the golems falling under this category are only "Divine Age Golems," and "Naturally Occurring Golems" do not apply.

By the way, monsters like Undead are judged as "Instincts remaining in the flesh reacting and fleeing."

Honestly, it's a retcon setting, but it meshed surprisingly well with the Unique Monster settings, so I'll go with this.

Notation of Legacy Weapons
Basically Legacy Weapon: "Origin" "Equipment Name".
Those newly created by an Ancient Craftsman are differentiated from those excavated (made in the past) and are called Re-Legacy Weapons (Revived Legacy Weapons).
Therefore, strictly speaking, the weapons inside Inventoria are not Re-Legacy Weapons, although Pencilgon called them Legacy Weapons normally since she has no way of knowing that distinction.
